Fun Facts about Thanksgivukkah:
Thanksgivukkah is a pop-culture portmanteau neologism given to the convergence of the American holiday of Thanksgiving and the first day of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah on Thursday, November 28, 2013.
It is a result of a rare kink between the lunisolar Hebrew calendar (whose dates reflect both the moon phase and the time of the solar year) and the Gregorian calendar. Because the calendars are not calculated the same way, Chanukah appears at a different time each year on the Gregorian calendar.
The last time it happened was 125 years ago, in 1888. The next time will be 79,043 years from 2013, by one calculation.
The Holiday even has its own Facebook page!
